Pingus & Flor de Pingus 2017

Spain’s most famous wines in Primeur

Launch of vintage 2017

Spain’s most famous oenologist is the Dane Peter Sisseck, whose Ribera del Duero wines are amongst the most highly rated in the country.

From 5 June 2018, the Primeur sales of these prestigious wines begin. Don’t miss this opportunity for there’s nowhere in Europe where you can find cheaper prices! And once the Primeurs are over, you will have to pay at least 20% more for some of these wines.

In the Ribera del Duero, 2017 was not an easy vintage; on April 28th, temperatures dropped to minus 6°C (21°F) for the whole night, which caused the loss of a great deal of the harvest. In the Pingus vineyard, fortunately, the damage was relatively limited (the decrease in yield was around 24% in comparison with 2016).

In the Flor de Pingus vineyard, however, the damage was catastrophic: the yield is 47% of a normal vintage. In the Psi vineyards, whose old vines are scattered in several valleys, the loss is only around 25%.

Fortunately, this small harvest is excellent in terms of quality. The fruit is beautiful everywhere, thanks to a hot summer that allowed a perfect maturation, and an early harvest. 2017 is thus rated as an excellent vintage. This makes our usual warning all the more crucial: don’t be late in placing your orders! For this year, our allotment of Pingus is 25% less, and that of Flor de Pingus 50% less. Also for the Psi, one will have to be on time.

We remind you that the wines will be available from January 2020.

Due to the small harvest, and the small allotment we received, our Pingus 2017 in Primeur sales are already over with the reservations made during the year.

Fortunately, we still have a very little quantity of PSI 2017 and Flor de Pingus 2017 available for sale in Primeur. But as with the Pingus, the small vintage means reservations have to be placed very soon.

Please find herewith a general presentation of these Primeurs.
