R. Parker (94/100)
The 2024 Sellongues is the newest red in the portfolio, produced with Cariñena from old vines planted in 1920 on a steep, north-facing slope on slate soils in La Vilella Baixa that he bought in 2019 and recovered, transformed to organic farming and worked by horse and hand. The cooler exposure helped to keep the freshness in a very dry and warm year. It's aromatic, floral and expressive, with a bright ruby color and a full-bodied palate with good ripeness and 14.5% alcohol, keeping a pH of 3,28 and 5.65 grams of acidity. It has a full-bodied palate with fine-grained tannins, very good balance and lots of energy. It matured in a 400-liter French oak barrel and one 125-liter amphora for one year. It's a powerful, characterful and elegant Cariñena. Only 643 bottles were filled in January 2026.
