The 2023 La Rodeda was also a little closed and austere. It comes from a very steep and stony vineyard, which, like the others, is being expanded with new vines from a massal selection to preserve the genetics of the old vines to extend their life. Eventually, they will produce a Flor wine, the new range of young vines from the old vineyards. La Rodeda matured in a 300-liter barrel and one glass demijohn, and the oak is integrated in the wine with just a creamy and spicy twist. It's full-bodied and they have fine-tuned it. It's Garnacha Peluda, but in the old vines, there are always a few plants of white. The wine is very aromatic, more Garnacha, with more clarity, with notes of fennel and aniseed. The tannins from the Garnacha Peluda can be harsh, but these are very fine and rounder. It has power and concentration, 14.5% alcohol but very balanced. Only 420 bottles were filled in April 2025. The increase in bottles is because they put up fences to protect the vines from the animals, so they got more grapes!
