This wine is typical of the Atlantic regions, but still quite powerful for a Ribeira Sacra.
Brancellao, aka Albarello often shows a velvety touch which one can easily identify, even in a blind tasting.

Vinification
Organic farming. Harvesting in small baskets on the sheer slopes of the Sil River.
Virtually no de-stemming. Most of the grapes arrive at the cellar in their original state.
After maceration and fermentation, the Brancellao is aged in vats for some 12 months or more if necessary. This very pure wine is typical of non-intervention winemaking.

From 2017 to 2027.

At cellar temperature.

Trial analysis
Light red colour - darker than many Atlantic reds, though.
Red fruit, cedar tree, cocoa and coffee roasting notes, this is a spicy, but also a velvety wine.
Elegant and well balanced, with a long finish: this is Atlantic Spain with a little bit more.

Wine estate

The work of a life time, that of Fernando Gonzalez, who started to recuperate old vines, almost abandoned, some 25 years ago. After rebuilding the walls that protect them from erosion, he started to make wine again with them.
This heroic, extreme cultivation takes place on slopes up to 85%.
Today, Fernando owns 16 hectares on the slopes, more than 40 blocks of vines, mainly planted with red varieties. Raúl Pérez transmitted to him his wine philosophy: wine is made in the vine, with a deep respect for the territory and its identity.
