Javi Revert, the best young winemaker of Mediterranean Spain. His top wines have now arrived!
Javi Revert: a name to remember.
From the very beginning (2016), we have been importing his wines into Belgium. Javi was, in fact, for many years the oenologist at Celler del Roure, our friends from Moixent in inland Valencia.
He once told us about his dream of making top wines from his grandfather’s old vineyards. And in 2018, the time had come! His first wines were imported into Belgium.
These sold out very quickly. Javi was producing fantastic wines with plenty of freshness and character, always from old vines of totally unknown grape varieties such as ‘Arcos’, ‘Bonicaire’, ‘Tortosí’, ‘Verdil’, ‘Trepadell’, etc.
From the start, he was praised by critics and sommeliers, and his scores naturally reflected that acclaim.
Today, he still produces barely 12,000 bottles in total. Our allocations therefore remain very limited.
And his star has risen even higher!
Read what R. Parker wrote last year:
"Javi Revert is one of the best young winemakers from the Mediterranean zone of Spain. After years working for Celler del Roure, he started his own personal project. He also has a joint venture with a friend (also ex-Celler del Roure) and is the winemaker at Finca Sandoval. He has completed with plantings to have 10 hectares, half old vines planted by his grandfather and the other half planted by him, to have the grapes for the planned 25,000 bottles by 2026. He now makes some 12,000 bottles. He's conducting soils studies to achieve more precision in his wines. 2019 and 2020 were two very different vintages: 2019 had catastrophic torrential rains (the famous cold spell) of up to 300 liters in a few days in September in the middle of the harvest, whereas 2020 was a much better vintage, healthy and with very good quality, eminently Mediterranean."
Of the 3 wines that have just arrived, the Simeta has already been rated, and as last year, he can be more than happy with the new 2023 and 2024 vintages!
After two consecutive dry years, both 2023 and 2024 are real successes, with sufficient finesse and rain throughout the year.
R. Parker: “After a very warm and dry 2022, 2023 was saved by the rain at the end of August, for him the new style of "cooler" Mediterranean vintages, freshened up by the rain, and he achieved wines with finesse and freshness.“

He works fully organically and can proudly look back at what he has achieved with his grandfather’s old vines.
We have 1 white wine (Micalet) and 2 red wines (Sensal, a village wine, and 1 Grand Cru: Simeta).
Each of them a true pinnacle of finesse!
