The top estate of Malaga!
Literally translated: “the wave of the boat to Melilla”
Here’s the story behind it:
At set times, the boat from Malaga to Melilla leaves the harbour. The locals in Malaga obviously know exactly when that happens.
Tourists usually have no idea. Why does this matter?
Every time the boat passes, a serious wave washes over the beach. The locals know this perfectly well. The tourists, meanwhile, end up sitting on the beach with soaking wet towels.
And so the Malagueños once again have a reason to laugh about the turistas on their playa…
But enough about the label, let’s talk about the wine itself.
The winemaker, Victoria Ordóñez, comes from a family with a long tradition in wine export. Especially in the US, the name Ordóñez was a major reference for many years. Victoria herself was a doctor and had her own practice in the centre of Malaga. But in the end, the family wine bug caught up with her too.
As a local, she saw the potential of the many old Pedro Ximénez vineyards in the hills around Malaga and decided to make it her life’s work. She contacted the owners of all these tiny vineyard plots and managed to create the very first true wine from Malaga city. We have now been working with her for 10 years, since the very beginning of her project.

This “Ola del Melillero” is a superb white wine with an almost unbeatable price-quality ratio. It took an incredible amount of effort to bring together all these tiny vineyard plots and make the wine.
Pedro Ximénez is also a grape with plenty of character and personality. Mineral yet Mediterranean. Fresh yet structured. The Pedro Ximénez is complemented by the equally local Moscatel, which adds exotic notes and fruity aromas.
Many different layers in one wine.
The perfect wine for this spring!
A first taste of summer holidays already.
