This Priorat wine was completely
sold out through advance reservations.
As you know, we offer an interesting system that allows you to reserve your bottles one year in advance. It is a very convenient way to make sure that wines which sell out quickly still find their way into your cellar.
But it can also be frustrating for good customers who did not make a reservation and often find themselves hopelessly too late to place an order.
I now have good news for them.
In mid-August, I spent a few days on holiday at my small masía in
El Pla de Manlleu. Yes, the village where
Ester Nin produces her cult white wines,
Selma and
Terra Vermella.
But Ester is, of course, first and foremost the owner and winemaker of the small, internationally renowned “Familia Nin i Ortiz” winery in Priorat.
Her flagship wine
“Mas d’en Caçador” has already received the perfect score of
100/100 several times.
And the 2023 vintage was therefore completely sold out through reservations.
When I told her about this in August, she immediately promised to secure a small additional allocation of Mas d’en Caçador for us.
And she kept her word!
Last week, we received another 36 bottles and 6 magnums of this fantastic Priorat.
This 2023 vintage is among the three best wines from Priorat in 2023, alongside l’Ermita by Alvaro Palacios (98+/100) and Les Manyes by Terroir al Límit (99/100).
It is no coincidence that all three are produced using biodynamic viticulture.
R. Parker: 98+/100, Familia Nin i Ortiz, Mas d’en Caçador 2023
When I tasted the 2023 Nit de Nin Mas d’en Caçador, it was more austere, closed and less expressive than the La Coma d'en Romeu, but they told me two weeks ago it was the other way around! But the wine is elegant and austere, floral and nuanced, very subtle, insinuating and really captivating. The palate is very balanced, seamless and powerful with very fine tannins and stunning balance. It fermented with 100% full clusters, a constant in all their single-vineyard wines from old vines. They bought the vineyard in 2023, and the wine is a blend of 51% Garnacha, 31% Cariñena, 15% Garnacha Peluda and 3% white varieties. 2,640 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2025. They are going to plant around it and in the future produce a Flor wine from it.
This Mas d’en Caçador comes from one of the most impressive vineyards in Priorat, planted mainly with Garnatxa and Carinyena, along with a little Garnatxa Peluda.
It is very elegant in style, with beautifully sculpted tannins. This is a wine that belongs alongside the truly great bottles in your cellar and can continue to age for at least 20 years.
Would you like to be one of the lucky few to have some of these 36 bottles in your cellar? (For collectors: we also have 6 magnums available, which we had not offered before!)
