Redemption for elegance!
On Wednesday, you already learned that our Tempranillos were a huge success at our recent autumn tasting.
And that’s hardly surprising, since the Viña Pedrosa Crianza 2022 and Dominio de Calogía Doble M 2021 were both top performers in terms of value for money!
But when we talk about successes, we also have to look at the other side of the coin — the wines that sold the least…
In this case, those were the wines from Bàrbara Mesquida from Mallorca. And that is nothing short of unfair. The wines she presented were true models of finesse, but their elegance made them stand out less among the more powerful Tempranillos.
Right after harvest, she’s in the middle of vinification, yet she still took the time to spend the whole weekend in Belgium presenting her wines.
Bàrbara works entirely on her own on her
biodynamic estate and is undoubtedly one of
the most authentic projects in Mallorca.
We know her story very well, as we’ve been working together for over 20 years.
Starting from scratch, she built her micro-winery and gradually replaced the Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay vines with indigenous Mallorcan grape varieties.
These grapes are of course less known — and above all, less powerful. She focuses entirely on elegance, and she’s rewarded for it, as her wines are highly appreciated by sommeliers and professionals alike.
You can’t always drink Tempranillo, so these wines definitely deserve a place in your cellar!

“Mesquida Mora continue with their organic approach, now with a vegetable garden to give work to local people and the local schools. In 2026, they plan to replant part of their Son Porque property with local grapes like Esperó de Gall and Escursac co-planted with apricot trees. All their vineyards are certified organic and produce around 80,000 bottles.”
“Mesquida Mora is one of the most interesting producers in Mallorca. All the wines are certified organic. Production is 85,000 to 90,000 bottles per year.”
