Cult Wine Nebro our very best Tempranillo
Nebro might not ring a bell for many of our customers. That’s understandable – the last bottles we received came in two years ago.
This wine is extremely rare and is produced only in exceptional vintages.
And 2021 was one of them.

Coincidence or not, but this vineyard, planted back in 1920 – just over 100 years ago – is located barely 3 meters from the vineyards of Vega Sicilia, our other top estate from the region.
This Nebro from Finca Villacreces (the name of the estate) is therefore extremely limited.
It’s one of our
most age-worthy wines.
A while ago, I opened a bottle from 1998 – one of the very first vintages we ever imported (yes, we’ve been working with this estate for that long)
and it was still absolutely perfect!
R. Parker even mentions ageing potential up to 2050!
“With impeccable balance, superb length, and well concealed tannins, this great effort should evolve for a decade and drink well through 2050.” (About the 2004)
“Opulent, mouth-filling, and rich, the wine is a tour de force. It will be at its best from 2015 to 2035.” (About the 2005)
95/100 Nebro 2021
The top of the range is the single-vineyard 2021 Nebro, sourced from a 1.2-hectare plot of old vines planted in 1920 in the village of Olmedillo at 850 meters above sea level on alluvial soils with a high percentage of limestone and clay, covered by sand. They consider 2021 a classical vintage, and the cooler conditions and better availability of water seem to have helped to produce a fresher, more elegant and more balanced wine. They also pushed in that direction, picking the grapes to achieve a wine with 14.1% alcohol and good acidity and freshness and being careful with the élevage, which was in a 1,200-liter oak foudre. It's the most elegant Nebro I can remember; it's perfumed, aromatic and floral, with a medium-bodied palate, very fine tannins and great purity of flavors.
You read that right: do you enjoy powerful, tannic, age-worthy Tempranillo?
Especially from a vintage as elegant as 2021?
Then this absolutely deserves a place in your cellar!
