Vinification
Traditional vinification in stainless steel tank. The various grapes are harvested at different moments and blended later.
Maceration, alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel also.
Then the wine stays 8 more months in the same tanks before being bottled.
Storage potential
Drink from 2022
At its peak between 2024 and 2026.
Drink before 2029.
To serve
Best decant before serving so as to get rid of the reduction notes.
Trial analysis
Pale colour. Reduction notes on the nose which disappear when the wine is given some air, then mineral and salty notes, with a hint pf white fruit and flint.
Very mineral on the palate too, with a nice crisp acidity.
Not for beginners!
Reviews
R. Parker (92/100)

The regional white 2020 Rofe Blanco is a blend of grapes from different parts of Lanzarote—Malvasía Volcánica, Listán Blanco and Diego (Vijariego Blanco)—from different locations, mostly Masdache and La Geria, all from traditional vineyards (hoyo, chaboco or enarenado). The varieties ripen at different times, so they ferment separately, mostly going through malolactic fermentation. It encapsulates the character of the whites from the island: it has aromatic characteristics, a mineral/volcanic character, dry, stony and salty, and is clean on the nose, expressive and less reductive. It has a soft mouthfeel with good precision and a dry, serious finish. It has 12.68% alcohol and good freshness.

Wine estate

Lanzarote seems to be a wine-lover's paradise: its old autochtone varietals grow on lava soils under Atlantic influences...
But until recently, frustratingly, all we tasted there was only banal.
That was also the impression of Rayco Fernandez, a distributor on the neighbouring island of Gran Canaria. So with the help of some friends of the same mind, he set out to make real terroir wines on Lanzarote.
And the fact that we, after 25 years of tasting wines from all regions of Spain, have still been impressed by their production shows how good these extreme terroir wines can be.
