An unknown gem from Bierzo at a small price!
And now available with an amazing promo!
We have been working for years with the two godfathers of the Atlantic Bierzo region:
Raúl Pérez and
Ricardo Palacios. But there are also other projects that are more than worth discovering;
For example, the small estate of Verónica Ortega. She learned the craft with Raúl Pérez and at Romanée-Conti and has had her own small wine estate for about 10 years.
This is Atlantic style with a southern twist. Verónica’s roots are in Cádiz, in the far south of Spain.
“Quite” is her entry-level wine. And if you haven’t tried it yet, you really should.
This is
serious wine with a summer profile. Only 13% alcohol and plenty of
freshness and elegance.
And that southern character is already in the name:
“Quite” is a term from bullfighting, so typical for that region, and also
a reference to her father, who was active in this field.
The 2022 vintage is now available and has received a very nice score and description from R.Parker:
93/100
"The old-vine cuvée from the village of
Valtuille, the 2022 Quite has a slightly darker color and riper profile
of dark berry fruit and aromatic herbs, a touch more Mediterranean this
year, with a medium-bodied palate and fine-grained, chalky tannins.
This is the ninth vintage for this red, and it fermented with 15% full
clusters and matured mostly in large oak containers for nine months. It
has contained ripeness and 13% alcohol, coming through as juicy and
balanced, clean and expressive!"
