The wines of The Sadie Family
arrived at our warehouse last week.
And we couldn’t be happier!
As you know, Sadie’s South African wines are a true exception in our range.
Eben Sadie, the patriarch of the estate, decided about five years ago to work with us, as he still had one foot in Spain.
More specifically in Priorat. Until a few years ago, he was the partner of
Dominik Huber of
Terroir al Límit, one of our very best Priorat estates. He eventually chose to return to his roots, namely Swartland in South Africa.
In no time, his wines became the country’s cult references.
Below you’ll find an overview of the whites and reds: Sadie especially shines with his whites, the highest rated in South Africa.
But his Columella is THE red cult wine of the country and certainly deserves a place in your cellar!
Due to the challenging commercial climate in many other countries, we were offered
a record allocation for Belgium this year – and we accepted 😊!
Over the past week, I’ve already opened a few bottles and I feel even happier with this decision.
Most of our customers bought en primeur and therefore didn’t have the chance to taste. This year, we still have availability on most of the wines, a real luxury when it comes to Sadie’s wines.
But take note: some cuvées have only about 30 bottles left, others around 60.
So large quantities are not possible. Maximum 6 bottles per wine per customer!

If you’ve never tasted them: believe me – both his whites and his reds are a must for your cellar!
Every collector should have these!
Tim Atkin and R. Parker consistently rank them among South Africa’s absolute top wines, and Eben Sadie is considered the most influential winemaker of the younger South African generation.
What’s still available to purchase?
The estate produces
2 “Signature” wines.
Palladius in white and
Columella in red.
They embody the true Swartland character in white and red. These are the flagship wines, the big names.
The white “Signature” wine is
Palladius.
For Eben, Palladius 2023 is the wine of the year. He has been working for years to refine it and shape it into his dream white wine. And every year he gets closer. Palladius 2023 is therefore a top wine you can enjoy over the next 20 years!
In addition, he produces several terroir wines, each from a single parcel. Often from the
oldest vines of that grape variety in South Africa. These are his
“District Series” (formerly called the “Ouwingerd series”).
For 2024, he has released the “District Series”.
There are 7 whites in total: Voetpad, Skerpioen, Twiswind, Rotsbank, Mevr Kirsten, Skurfberg and Kokerboom.
Voetpad and Twiswind are completely sold out en primeur. But the others are still (limited) available.
The rarest is “Rotsbank”, and this one is still for sale.
