New vintages of Valdueza now available!
"Make wine, not war!"
In 1567, Philip II of Spain sent the Duke of Alba (better known to us as the "Blood Duke") to the Netherlands. The result was not great for the reputation of the Spaniards. Fortunately, that was a long time ago. The real name of the Duke of Alba was Fernando Álvarez de Toledo.
And by coincidence, his direct descendant (since the early 17th century, the Spanish king rewarded them with the title “Marqués de Valdueza”) is today producing some of the finest wines from Extremadura. And then (which is no coincidence), we at La Buena Vida started importing these wines a good 10 years ago.

Today, it is Fadrique Álvarez de Toledo who leads this magnificent estate in Extremadura, between Mérida and Badajoz.
He produces two outstanding red wines that are among the best price/quality ratios in our selection. We have just received the 2019 vintage of both!
Both wines are full-bodied, juicy, and robust reds with plenty of Spanish sunshine, yet they retain complexity and aristocratic finesse.
