Vega Sicilia
Number 1 last year on the world’s most important wine index!
Last rare bottles available!
Last year, we were particularly proud to see the wines of Vega Sicilia reach first place on the London-based wine trading platform Liv-ex.
This is where the values of wines worldwide are tracked and established, based on global trading activity and critical recognition.
While investment wines have generated some of the highest returns over the past fifteen years, Spain has so far played a relatively modest role.
Only two of our estates have made it into the Liv-ex top 100: unsurprisingly
Pingus
and
Vega Sicilia.
In this ranking, Burgundy traditionally dominates: in 2020, 2021 and 2022, it was Domaine Leroy each time.
In 2023, Domaine Leflaive took over.
This year, Cheval Blanc has assumed the role previously held by Vega Sicilia.
Sassicaia also features in the top 3!
And believe us: Spanish wines are only just at the beginning of this momentum!
This is what they wrote last year:
“Spain – no longer under the radar?
“Spain – no longer under the radar?
Vega-Sicilia tops the Power 100 list. This is the first time a Spanish wine has done so. While there are other wines in the stable, this is overwhelmingly a story about Unico (and to some degree Unico Reserva Especial). Spearheaded by US demand, Unico has been one of 2024’s few success stories. The facts speak for themselves. Compared to 2023, Vega-Sicilia Unico’s trade count is up 193%, its trade volumes are up 324%, and its trade value is up 310%. With considerable heritage – it was first produced in 1915 –
and still representing good value, it is unlikely to be a flash in the pan.“

There is little we need to add to that.
Just one piece of advice: our final cases of the rarest bottles, namely the large formats (magnums and double magnums), arrived with us in November.
And once again, they scored very highly with Robert Parker.
The ideal gift “with a solid return” to place under the Christmas tree 😉
