R. Parker (93/100)
The first red in the terroir-driven single-vineyard bottlings, the 2022 Laderas de Teno is a blend of Bastardo, Vijariego Negro, Baboso Negro and Tintilla from the Valle del Palmar in the northeast of Tenerife, at 700 meters above sea level, exposed to the wind and on older, more decomposed soils with more clay and silt that provide fine tannin. It fermented with some full clusters and indigenous yeasts and matured in 225- and 300-liter French oak barrels for 12 months. It has a deep garnet color with some orange tints denoting some age and a fruit-driven nose with notes of ripe berries, wild flowers and herbs, faintly smoky and with some notes of evolution and good complexity. It comes in at 13.5% alcohol, with a pH of 3.5 and 5.5 grams of acidity. It has a medium-bodied palate with abundant, fine-grained tannins and a dry and powdery sensation in the finish. 831 bottles produced.
