R. Parker (93/100)
The top-of-the-range white, the 2011 Reserva Blanco is a blend of 70% Viura, 20% Malvasía Riojana and 10% Garnacha Blanca from a vineyard planted in 1978 on sloped clay and chalk soils at 600 meters altitude in San Vicente de la Sonsierra. It was barrel fermented and aged with lees and bâtonnage in new French barriques for 12 months. 2011 is clearly riper than 2016 (of which I tasted the other white), and this 2011 also shows more influence from the élevage. It's a different style, and this might need more time in bottle, but the quality of the younger wine was so impressive that I think both are at a very similar quality level. 2,500 bottles were filled in December 2012.
