The volcanic soils ensure a good drainage and contain a lot of minerals. Not much calcium, but a lot of nitrogen, potassium and phosphor, which gives to the wine a very particular character.
The climate is Mediterranean, on the whole, but with many different micro-climates in this part of the island.
All the vines are un-grafted, and many are pre-phylloxeric.
Gual, la malvasia, listán blanco and marmajuelo are the main white grapes. Listán negro and negramoll are the main red grapes.
