No boring Sancerre with your asparagus!!
and definitely no bland Verdejo either!
So what should you go for?
It’s simple:
exciting, original wines that are also rare, with real character.
Of course, you can always choose a fruity Sauvignon blanc or a Verdejo (we have those too!)
But today, I’d like to offer you something a lot more distinctive.
Available in just 30 packs of 3+3 bottles.
Two wines that are
both rare and delicious to enjoy with your first
spring asparagus.
And yes, technically it’s Verdejo… but not really either.
Let me introduce two stunning wines from our top 2 producers in the Rueda region: Javier Sanz and José Pariente.
Yes, they do make great Verdejo and Sauvignon blanc...
But they also make something else entirely!

1.
Javier Sanz owns some of the
oldest vines in the region and has made the Malcorta his
life’s work. It’s a relative of Verdejo, but in the past, growers considered it too troublesome and not profitable.
The
Malcorta (the name says it all) is difficult to harvest and ripens slowly, so it’s often picked late and has naturally higher acidity.
Today, that makes it the perfect white wine for asparagus 😊!!
We’ve received an allocation of just
around 100 bottles of the 2023 vintage (a fantastic year, by the way).

2.
For a few years now, José Pariente has been producing one of his finest wines from
90-year-old Verdejo, with such distinctive character that it barely resembles your standard Verdejo. It’s not called
“Cuvée Especial” for nothing. From the
“Finca la Medina” vineyard (planted in 1930, about 2.2 ha), production is very limited. This is one of the
grand crus of this renowned estate.
The 2022 vintage was released at the end of last year, and it’s not your typical fresh Verdejo — it’s a
deep, complex white wine with beautiful minerality and great ageing potential.
We offer these two rare wines in a 6-bottle pack:
