Comando G needs no introduction. In barely ten years, Dani Landi and Fernando García have put the Sierra de Gredos firmly on the map with the very best Garnachas of Spain, and perhaps even of Europe. Their wines have become true cult wines.
Here as well, even the entry-level wines are completely sold out. Their Grand Crus such as Rumbo al Norte, Tumba del Rey Moro, Las Iruelas, Las Umbrías and El Tamboril are only offered in collection cases. At auctions, these wines are among the most sought-after.

But what if I told you that this Cantos del Diablo was also part of that illustrious line-up until 2020…?!

This is, in fact, the highest-altitude vineyard in the Méntrida appellation. This is the region where everything began for Dani Landi and Comando G.
Since 2021, however, the wine no longer carries the name “Comando G”. The vineyards were transferred to his childhood friend Curro Barreño, under the label “Vitícola Méntridana”. And that has made a significant difference.
The wines no longer come under the Comando G label, meaning they are freely available and no longer sold as primeurs.
And the biggest advantage: this is not a cheap wine, yet it still costs only a fraction of the price of Comando G’s Grand Crus. Nevertheless, Dani Landi still has the final say in this project…

Just take a look at what Luis Gutiérrez (R. Parker) has written in the past about this Cantos del Diablo:
“The single-vineyard Cantos del Diablo was produced with the grapes from 0.35 hectares in the village of El Real de San Vicente (Toledo), the highest vineyard in the Méntrida appellation. It's a north-facing plot at 900 meters in altitude that was planted some 70 years ago on sandy granite soils rich in silt and is worked biodynamically.”
“It has a very Burgundian nose with flinty minerality, and it opens up with time in the glass. It has citrus finesse, very fine tannins and a sapid, long finish.”
“This is going to be phenomenal in four or five years”
“Starting with the 2021 vintage, the wines from El Real de San Vicente will be transferred to a new project called Vinicola Mentridana, where Daniel Landi will share responsibilities with his friend Curro Bareño, both born in the village.”
“It's a north-facing plot very close to the village on sandy granite soils with lots of silt, and it delivers chalky tannins and a citrus freshness in the wine.”
Would you like a Grand Cru from the Sierra de Gredos in your cellar, at the level of Comando G, yet still completely unknown to the wider public?
And on top of that, for a fraction of the price?
