Cote may not (yet) be a widely known name, but visitors of our spring tasting already got to know him as one of the most passionate winemakers in our range.

He works entirely on his own, occasionally assisted by his 17-year-old daughter Carlota, after whom he named his flagship wine.
His track record is seriously impressive: Vega Sicilia, Pingus, Mauro, Convento de San Francisco. All major names from Ribera del Duero.
When he called me to present his
small personal project, I didn’t hesitate for a second. Two weeks later I was on site to taste his wines! That was in 2021.
His wines Cote Granuja and Cote Luna have since been very successful and have delighted many wine lovers.
I also tasted his
Cote Carlota back then,
his grand wine in the making. It was his first vintage and, with his reputation on the line, it simply could not disappoint. And for a first attempt, it was a masterstroke.

Early 2024, the moment had finally arrived
The first vintage of Cote Carlota, the 2019, was finally released in 2024.
We had been waiting for this for a long time… but it was well worth it. And as so often, each new vintage takes things a step further. The Cote Carlota 2020, just arrived, goes one step further again. What a wine!
Do you enjoy powerful yet highly drinkable Tempranillo wines from Ribera del Duero, with smooth tannins? Then this one definitely deserves a place in your cellar.
It belongs alongside your Alión and Flor de Pingus. It will feel right at home there 😊.
