A few weeks ago, we already highlighted the extraordinary La Faraona 2023. It was awarded the perfect score of 100/100 and is now sold out.

There is also a new Grand Cru, produced for the very first time in 2023: “Al Chelo”.
And it immediately scored 99/100 in its debut vintage.

I tasted both the 2023 and 2024 vintages at the beginning of summer and was genuinely impressed. You may already know that my personal favourite is usually “Las Lamas”. This time, however, the new “Al Chelo” clearly stole the show.
This new Grand Cru is truly fabulous.
Álvaro Palacios is, of course, the third great name among Spain’s wine icons, alongside Vega Sicilia and Pingus.
His La Faraona has already received the perfect 100/100 score three times, just like his L’Ermita from Priorat!
This firmly places him among the very greatest winemakers in Spain.
