It is the most common grape of all varietals in Spain… and in the world!
It's bunches are very large and its wines are quite aromatic. It is mainly to be found in the provinces of Ciudad Real (51% of the total surface),Toledo, Cuenca, Albacete, Murcia, Madrid (and many other areas too ). It is the most important white variety in D.O. La Mancha, D.O. Valdepeñas and D.O. Vinos de Madrid.

Airén is the world's most planted varietal, but hardly no one has eve heard about it. The whole of La Mancha is planted with it, but rare are the interesting wines made with it. The quality of this wine is all the more impressive!

Brandy Juan Sebastián Elcano is a D.O. Brandy de Jerez Solera Gran Reserva from Gutiérrez Colosía. Its solera dates back to the beginning of the 20th century, and the brandy is aged in American oak casks that previously held Oloroso. It is matured according to the traditional criaderas and solera system, with production limited to just 1,500 bottles per year. Its name pays tribute to the Spanish training ship Juan Sebastián Elcano, which has close ties to the Bay of Cádiz.

Las Tinadas is definitely the best Airén on the market ! In Finca Romeral, this is one of the last parcelas with vieilles vignes Pie Franco (i.e. planted without the normally obligatory American rootstock that protects against phylloxera). Single Vineyard planted in 1950.
