Wines from Taganana,
Tenerife’s most impressive wine village
Tenerife is a favourite holiday destination for many of our customers. And although most of them are also great wine lovers, few realise that, in the far north, in Anaga Rural Park, there are some impressive vineyards.
No, these are no ordinary vineyards. These are old, gnarled vines on steep slopes overlooking the sea. At altitudes of up to almost 1,000 metres!
The four friends behind Envínate have been making outstanding wines here since 2012. Every year, we receive a small quantity. Their wines have now become highly sought-after among connoisseurs.
They work in a completely non-interventionist way, allowing the volcanic soils to express themselves naturally.
Every year, Luis Gutiérrez also awards them excellent scores for R. Parker. Their wines are unique and remain very affordable.
Johan was there again at the beginning of July and also visited these impressive vineyards in Taganana. He too was deeply impressed.

In the small village of Taganana, they make both white and red wines
The white Táganan, which is much rarer and also slightly more expensive, is a field blend of Listán blanco, Marmajuelo, Gual, Forastero, Vijariego…
The latest rated vintage (2024) received an excellent score of 96/100.
And its description is exactly what I love in a white wine:
"Very serious and stony nose and a dry, chalky and mineral palate. This is always saline — the vineyard is very close to the sea, and the wine gets the influence from there."
