That’s what he wrote last year about the Ventoleiro 2022 from “A Barouta”, the very first wine of the new project by Dani Landi and Fernando García of Comando G in the Sierra de Gredos.
We can now offer you the brand new 2023 vintage! And this time, both in white and in red!
What we are presenting to you is therefore very exclusive.
This wine was first tasted by Luis Gutiérrez (Robert Parker’s Spain reviewer). Back then, it was the very first vintage of this outstanding project: 2022. The quantities, however, were so limited that we never even listed this project on our website.
Fortunately, the new vintage (2023) was released before the summer, and we’ve just received it.
But watch out: this pack is not for the hesitant! 😉
A red Atlantic wine with a pronounced profile.
Biodynamic and made from the typical grape varieties of Galicia’s finest region: Ribeiro.
In this case: 40% Caíño Longo, 60% Brancellao. Aged in a large Stockinger cask for 7 to 8 months.
We can now offer you the Ventoleiro branco for the very first time!
80% Treixadura and 20% Albariño make this wine the finest Ribeiro in Spain!
From the typical Ribeiro terroir: a mixture of granite and sand. Stony soils with plenty of minerality.
Both white and red have just 11% alcohol, pale in colour. Need I say more:
Burgundian in character.
The project itself is called “A Barouta”, named after the small stone house in San Clodio.
It is a collaboration between Javier Alén, originally from this charming village in Ribeiro, and the boys from Comando G.
