The Augustus Chardonnay is one of the best examples of this grape made in Spain. And the pride of the house!
The barrel ageing has been reduced over the years.
As the barrels are heavily toasted, one can find aromas of toasted bread, but no woody notes, which allows the wine to better show the quality of its fruit. This is the 20th vintage of this wine.
Production: 20,000 bottles
Vinification
Fermented, then aged 4 months in Nevers oak barrels, with bâtonnage.
Storage potential
Ready to be drunk as soon as the wine is bottled. Potential: 5 years.
To serve
Serve cool (12°) in a Burgundy glass.
Trial analysis
Deep golden colour.
Toasted and fresh almond notes, nuts and ripe and sweet pear notes on the nose. Juicy on the palate, with grape and butter taste, underlaid with a touch of acidity.
