Comando G’s heroic project in Galicia
That is what R. Parker wrote two years ago about the 2022 Ventoleiro from “A Barouta”, the first wine from the new project by Dani Landi and Fernando García of Comando G in the Sierra de Gredos.

This wine was first tasted by Luis Gutiérrez (R. Parker’s Spanish wine reviewer). At the time, it was the very first vintage of this remarkable project: 2022. Quantities were so limited, however, that we never even featured the project on our website.
Fortunately, the new vintage (2024) was released before the summer, and it has just arrived. But be warned: this is not a wine for those who hesitate! 😉
An Atlantic red wine with a distinctive profile.
Biodynamic and made from the typical grape varieties of one of Galicia’s finest regions: Ribeiro.
In this case: 50% Caíño Longo, 50% Brancellao. Aged in a large Stockinger foudre for 7 to 8 months.
We can now offer the white Ventoleiro Branco in very limited quantities!
80% Treixadura and 20% Albariño make this the very best Ribeiro in Spain! From the typical Ribeiro terroir: a mixture of granite and sand. Stony soils with plenty of minerality.
12.5% alcohol for the white and just 11% for the red, which is light in colour. Need I say more: Burgundian in character.
The project itself is called
“A Barouta”, named after the small stone house in San Clodio. It is a
collaboration between Javier Alén, who comes from this beautiful village in Ribeiro, and the
