La Comarcal (Javi Revert)

Description La Comarcal (Javi Revert)

La Comarcal — meaning local or district — offers two white and two red wines. Javi Revert and Victor Marques know the region like the back of their hand and are constantly seeking out high-altitude vineyards planted with native grape varieties. Their winemaking philosophy is based on minimal intervention, with one goal in mind: to produce refined wines that break away from the entrenched image of the region’s Spanish wines. Sun-drenched, concentrated Monastrells aged in heavy oak are simply not their thing. Instead, they offer a pure interpretation of local grape varieties and chalky terroirs, with ageing in neutral oak and concrete vats. That’s La Comarcal’s recipe for creating wines that are both full of drinking pleasure and easy on the wallet.

Description

A field blend led by Merseguera, complemented by Garnacha Blanca and a few stray percentages of Chardonnay. The vineyard lies at 600 metres altitude on limestone-clay soils, with vines aged between 8 and 42 years. Comarcal refers to a wine from the comarca — the local region. With just 11% alcohol, this is far from your typical sun-drenched Mediterranean white. Expect a refined bouquet with floral notes and a touch of exotic fruit (thanks to the Merseguera), a chalky minerality, ripe acidity, medium body, and — most of all — a beautifully dry and mineral finish. A brilliantly crisp and crystalline white from inland Valencia!
