A field blend led by Merseguera, complemented by Garnacha Blanca and a few stray percentages of Chardonnay.
The vineyard lies at 600 metres altitude on limestone-clay soils, with vines aged between 8 and 42 years.
Comarcal refers to a wine from the comarca — the local region.
With just 11% alcohol, this is far from your typical sun-drenched Mediterranean white.
Expect a refined bouquet with floral notes and a touch of exotic fruit (thanks to the Merseguera), a chalky minerality, ripe acidity, medium body, and — most of all — a beautifully dry and mineral finish.
A brilliantly crisp and crystalline white from inland Valencia!
Vinification
The grapes are harvested before becoming overripe, to avoid excessive ripeness, loss of natural acidity, and too high a sugar content in the must — which would lead to elevated alcohol levels.
Whole clusters are pressed and fermented with native yeasts, without temperature control, in concrete vats and neutral oak barrels.
Ageing takes place in a combination of concrete, neutral oak, and stainless steel.
