History José Pariente
In 2000, two friends, Marivi Pariente and Viki Benavides, launched a joint project in Rueda under the name Dos Victorias. In the early years, the wines were made in a different bodega, as they did not yet have the means to build their own.
Gradually, the idea of creating their own winery took shape. It was eventually built in San Román de Hornija, a village located outside the Rueda appellation, in Toro. From then on, they also started producing red wines. However, as regulations did not allow them to vinify Rueda whites there, their paths separated in 2007: Marivi Pariente established her own bodega in La Seca under the name José Pariente, while Viki Benavides continued her project in Toro under the name Elías Mora.
A meaningful detail: both estates were named after two men, as a tribute to those who had carefully tended the old vines for many years. José Pariente, Marivi’s father, devoted his life to old Verdejo vines, preserving them for future generations.
Today, the bodega in La Seca is run by Martina and Ignacio Prieto Pariente. José Pariente Verdejo has since become a benchmark in Rueda, consistently earning top recognition across Spain.
In early 2024, a long-held ambition came to life. The Pariente family took over the work of Galician winegrower Arsenio Paz, continuing his efforts to revive native grape varieties in Ribeiro through the historic A Vilerma estate, with its 6 hectares of vineyards in the Avia Valley. The white A Vilerma is a precise expression of the typicity of this appellation.
