The D.O. Rueda is mainly located in the Valladolid province, in the west of Castilla y León, not far from Ribera del Duero. It is especially famous for its aromatic white Verdejo wines, but since 2001, red wines are also authorised in the D.O (even if they are still marginal). This Verdejo, which made Rueda’s fame, has nothing to with the Italian Verdicchio or the Portuguese Verdelho. It seems to exist only in Rueda.
Its wines are very aromatic, fresh and almost naturally mineral. This freshness is linked with the altitude of the vineyard, between 650 and 850 m – this is what is called the Castillan meseta. Beside Verdejo, Rueda also has Macabeo, and more and more Sauvignon blanc, which is easy to mistake for Verdejo in a blind tasting. This D.O is a real commercial success, as it produce crisp, affordable wines that are very much appreciated both in Spain and abroad.

A semi-sweet Spanish wine that brings together tradition and innovation. Traditionally, a sweet wine was made in the region in the style of a vin de paille. Today, this technique is intelligently combined with more modern methods.

Vetus means forbidden in latin. The vines stand at an altitude of 810 to 930 meters above sea level, in the northernmost zone of Rueda (Segoría). Here the harvest takes place 3 weeks after the rest of the DO.
Javier Sanz also owns several hectares of Sauvignon Blanc, planted in 1994, in addition to the oldest Verdejo vines in the region. This is a pure Sauvignon, attentive to its terroir.
Selection of the best vineyards old vines on the high plateau of La Seca. Formerly called "Villa Narcisa".
The DO Rueda and José Pariente owe much of their reputation to the Verdejo grape. Yet Sauvignon Blanc also plays an important role in the region. At José Pariente, this project first saw the light in 2007 and has since proven to be a real success. The wine was named José Pariente after his passing, when Marivi inherited the vineyards.
This is the entry level wine of the estate - but also its flagship wine! The Dos Victorias owe it their fame. José Pariente was Marivi's father, who looked after the old vines of the estate for all his life.

This single vineyard cuvée from the Las Comas winery, an innovative estate focusing on terroir wines, is only made in exceptional years. The 2.4 hectare vine was planted in 1910. Total production is only 2,780 bottles.
The top wine of this estate, and a very complex cuvée. Most of the wine experts think that verdejo is not particularly apt for barrel fermentation. But this FEB gained by it in structure without losing anything in liveliness. It is Marivi's tribute to her father who took care of these vines all his life.
Rey Santo is the entry level wien at Javier Sanz Viticultor. Like most of the basic wines in the region, it is a blend of Verdejo and Macabeu Viura).
Rey Santo Semidulce was made in 2010 for the first time.
