Albert Jané has been the founder of Acustic Celler in Montsant since 2004. He returned to his roots in 2015 : the Mas Vilella estate, where he has now established his Autocton Celler, with the ambition of becoming Catalunya's leading player for the Sumoll grape. He makes his red wines only with Sumoll, achieving a Mediterranean-style Burgundian elegance. Very interesting and exciting for the future. The vineyards are between 50 and 70 years old, planted in the province of Tarragona and partly in Baix Penedès and Alt Camp, hence this wine comes on the market without a DO. Both the Mediterranean sea and the Montmell mountains are nearby giving an ideal climate for the vineyards at an altitude between 300 and 500m. The soil is mainly clay & limestone.
Vinification
Fermentation and élevage takes place partly in amphorae and partly in French barriques (2-3rd year). As with Acústic, most of the work here is done in the vineyard. Vinification is done as naturally as possible and with minimum intervention.

Trial analysis
Pale red colour that already gives a good indication of the wine's style. Not a rich Mediterranean red, but a wine in elegance where red and black berries prevail along with a spicy touch, white pepper type. On the palate we get a wine with a fine tannic structure and high acidity, very fresh and with lots of tension, less ripe and round than we are used to from Albert in his Acústic wines. Long and elegant finish.
