R. Parker (95+/100)
The white 2023 Valtuille El Val comes from a plot in that "paraje" (lieu-dit) that was planted with Godello 37 years ago, regrafted to the white variety some five years ago. It fermented in barrel with indigenous yeast and matured in those 500-liter barrels with the lees but without any bâtonnage for one year. This is very complete, with good but contained ripeness, keeping the edge, fresh and vibrant, with some notes of sesame seeds. It has 12.96% alcohol, a very low pH (3.08) and very good acidity (6.95), denoting the freshness from the year, with no oak whatsoever. It's very delineated and elegant. 1,600 bottles were filled in December 2024.
