This is the little brother of Come Blanca - but the father is different ans Coma Alta is more of an easy-to-drink wine.
Before 2012, the main grape was Viognier; now it is Grenache Blanc.
Coma Alta means high valley.

Vinification
30% of the wine is aged for 6 months in 500 litre French oak barrels, on its lees.

To serve
12°C after decanting.

Trial analysis
On the nose, spicy, fruity and floral, with a hint of oak.
On the palate, large, full-bodied and juicy. All the southern character of the White Grenache.
This solid wine will be a perfect companion for hard cheeses and white meats.

The creamy and floral 2014 Coma Alta was produced with grapes from a single vineyard in one of the five valleys existing in the Mas d'en Gil property. It has notes of pollen, dried flowers and beeswax intermixed with hints of fennel and a spicy and lactic touch. The palate is intensely tasty, with pungent flavors, very spicy and with very good freshness, coming through as a very balanced, tasty white already developing some complexity. 4,768 bottles were filled in May 2015.

Wine estate

One of the largest - and best - estates in Priorat, Mas d'en Gil was saved from decay by the Rovira Family at the end of the 1990's.
It is now back at the top with superb wines which both respect the local traditions in terms of viticulture and winemaking.
