52-60 2023 is the third vintage of this distinctive blend of red and white grapes by Abel Mendoza. The wine comes from small, contiguous plots in Mondiarte, in Labastida. The vines are around 60 years old and are planted on red sandstone soils. The vineyards are farmed organically.
The blend is made from Tempranillo, Graciano and Garnacha, complemented by white grapes such as Garnacha Blanca, Malvasía Riojana and Viura. Only 1,407 bottles were produced.
Vinification
Manual harvest from small plots. The grapes are hand-destemmed and fermented in small stainless steel vats. Malolactic fermentation and ageing then take place for 13 months in a 1,100-litre oak foudre.

Trial analysis
Perfumed and aromatic on the nose, with ripe fruit, floral notes and well-integrated oak. On the palate, the wine is juicy and ripe, without becoming heavy. It keeps good freshness and balance thanks to its lively acidity. The tannins are fine but present and need a little more time to fully integrate.
