The Gran Reserva is only vinified in the best vintages. It is made from a selection of old vineyards (up to 830 metres altitude) with vines averaging 60 years of age. In years when the quality required for a Gran Reserva is not achieved, the grapes are used for the Reserva.
Officially, Viña Pedrosa Gran Reserva 2017 does not exist. Due to extremely low yields, there simply wasn’t enough wine for a regular bottling. Only a handful of 18-liter bottles were filled at the estate, exclusively for private use. We managed to secure one of these rare bottles. The result: a “non-existent wine” you won’t find anywhere else in the world – a true one-of-a-kind addition to your cellar.
Vinification
24 months of ageing primarily in French oak barrels, with limited use of American oak, followed by a minimum of 36 months of bottle ageing.
Storage potential

Best moment : 2034-2038
Until : 2049
To serve
Decant within its first 8 years. Serve at a temperature of 18 °C in a large glass. Even after decanting, the wine still needs time to fully open up.
Trial analysis
This wine needs air to open up. Then it shows a lot of freshness on the nose - red and sour cherries, plum, and sweet spices, which linger on the palate, complex, deep and fleshy. A subtle acidity and a touch of wood give it a good persistence and some minerality too.
